Modern Warfare 2’s campaign has always been one of the most praised story modes for the entire first person shooter genre. Welp, it’s back, better than ever. It could use some more innovative goodness here and there but the overall result is a gorgeous and entertaining campaign from beginning to end.
MW2 was the first COD I truly loved and this remaster does it justice in so many ways. There is no multiplayer or spec ops but i’m honestly fine with this because I never played them during their prime but instead after it came out so i really only had experience with the story and campaign due to me not having xbox live. The graphics are incredible and the new animations are slick and smooth. Some characters in-game models have been changed but that’s normal considering this is a remaster and Infinity Ward can’t just use the old lower res models for a remaster. The story is the same as 10 years ago (obviously) and is still as incredible and controversial as it was then. This was personally more personal for me because I played MW2’s campaign a lot over the last 6 to 7 years and memorized most of the missions and voice lines so to hear them again was very nostalgic. If you loved MW2’s campaign and don’t mind about no multiplayer you will love this remaster.
An excellent remaster of a bonkers campaign, that feels great to play again. It’s just a shame that the Special Ops and multiplayer modes didn’t make their way in as well.
With fully updated graphics and sound this, remaster brings the original on par with current day, while keeping the original gameplay. While the choice to bypass the multiplayer altogether, this version is a good choice for those that enjoy a story based FPS with a lot of action and all offers a fine chance for those that gave the campaign in the original a pass.
Modern Warfare 2 is as intense and spectacular as you remember it –maybe even more with its great new graphics. The fantastic campaign, however, feels short and the lack of multiplayer modes is hard to ignore.
Often dated and simplistic, there’s no denying MW2 delivers a cinematic spectacle. The real fun comes from Museum mode and re-running with unlockable gameplay mods.
An honest remaster full of beautiful sceneries and spectacular explosions, but the storytelling and gameplay are stuck in the past. And beware – there really is nothing else to see apart from the campaign.
A competent remaster of a story mode that, while it still has the ability to impress, feels old-fashioned, shallow, and grossly overpriced.
MW2 Remastered is gorgeous in terms of graphical upgrades and hidden gems, but lacks the originality and edginess that MW2 had when it came out. If you guys don’t know what I am talking about, I am talking about the reused main menu and sound design from MW Remastered, and of course the lack of spec ops and muiltiplayer. MW2 Remastered is a nice graphical boost especially in terms of replayability of the MW2 campaign, but it feels like a big “eff you” to nostalgic gamers that really loved Jason West’s and Vince Zampella’s MW2.
